In an ongoing effort to practice mutual ministry and rural ministry, GLC is partnering with FLP. Pastor Janet Miller has already been partnering with Florence Lutheran Parish, which consists of New Helgen and Goodhue congregations in Florence, South Dakota. In her previous call, she was partnered with FLP by providing a weekly service, a monthly Bible study, Confirmation classes, weddings, baptisms, funerals, etc. She will continue with that ministry while also being a full-time pastor at Grace Lutheran. Because of the partnership, our service time has changed from 9:30am to 9:00am. The wonderful news is that if you miss her service in Watertown, you can catch her in Florence at 11am. Or if you normally go to Florence but have an afternoon packed full of activities, you can catch the early service in Watertown that week. Once a month there is a service at Goodhue Lutheran in Rural Florence at 11am. It is the sweetest country church and embodies "Home on the plains" and "Amazing Grace" at the same time. You definitely have to visit!
So although Pastor Janet's "office hours" will be listed at Grace Lutheran, please be aware that she could be going back and forth between the two towns for funerals, baptisms, weddings, meetings, etc. If you would like to schedule a meeting, call the GLC office to check her availability.
The GLC Council and Staff are excited to partner with FLP to grow and strengthen our neighboring communities and congregations. You will probably see announcements for FLP in the bulletin, Gleanings newsletter, and online. Please help grow this community by also participating in their fundraisers, special services, and celebrations.
